The club’s old site was a static html site from the 1990s that had become outdated, inconsistent, and difficult to administer.  So in 2009, we created and launched a new Joomla site that was dynamic, interactive, and easy to administer.  In addition to new directory and menu structures, the new site also employs a graphic event calendar, an interactive photo gallery, a discussion forum, and online event registration.  We also included a sophisticated user management component that allows site users to create their own unique profiles and that provides the foundation upon which to integrate many other functions (including the possibility of managing membership status online).
 
The new site has made it significantly easier for the club’s management team to communicate information in a timely and accurate manner.  And Joomla’s tiered user structure has allowed multiple volunteers to take some responsibility for updating and maintaining site content. Since launching the site in the spring of 2009, attendance at club events has grown steadily (despite a population decrease in the greater Miami Valley).
