Our most important tasks for the new Ground Water Science site were to preserve and reorganize the large amount of content that was available at the old site, create a consistent and easy-to-navigate menu structure, update the look and feel of the site, and fine-tune their sales pitch. Along the way, we also built an online store and shopping cart (with a PayPal-enabled payment module) where they can sell their technical manuals and accept registrations for their professional seminars. And we provided a document storage area where users can download files - such as the Flowlines Newsletter or the GWS capabilities statement (both in pdf format). We also provided an interactive polls module where visitors can share their opinions and experiences. And we included several cool technical gizmos - like the dynamic image slideshow and the sliding tabs on the front page. And since their old site was well-indexed by the major search engines, it was very important to make the new site as search-engine-friendly as possible. So we implemented search-engine-friendly URLs (meaning that page addresses are comprised of meaningful words as opposed to seemingly-nonsensical database strings), created a XML site map, programmed a series of meta tags, and registered the site with all of the major search engines. The Ground Water Science site is an ongoing project for us, so who knows what we might add next. Take a closer look for yourself.

"... a quick shout-out to my friends, John and Jen at Springhill Interactive Media, who have helped educate and guide me through the website building process. Any cool stuff you see that works [at zencycle.com] is a result of their expertise." - Mark Windle, Zencycle.com |
