SpringHill Interactive Media is a Dayton, Ohio marketing firm focused on building spectacular websites for businesses, organizations, public agencies, and individuals throughout the Miami Valley and Ohio. Through 14+ years of using our own interactive website to serve customers of our first brick-and-mortar business (starting in 1996), we learned hands-on how to do business online. Now we specialize in building hard-working functional sites with interactive applications that allow our clients to better serve their customers and constituents.

We believe that a website should not only communicate information in attractive and entertaining ways, but it should also engage and connect users to each other, make it easier for organizational managers to learn and understand the needs of site users, and provide an infrastructure through which real business can be conducted online.

Jen’s interest in technology arose out of necessity while building her career as a human resources professional with the Franciscan Health System of the Ohio Valley in the 1990s. During Jen’s tenure with FHSOV, first at The Franciscan at St. Leonard retirement facility and later at Franciscan Medical Center, her department endured a series of new software implementations. As the youngest member of the staff at the time, Jen was aked to lead the software transition as it affected the HR department. Ultimately, it fell upon Jen to learn to use the new software with little formal training and to share her expertise with the rest of the department. Her success with the first project led to a similar role on another, and then another, and so on.

In 1996, when many businesses had only heard about a then-new phenomenon known as the “internet”, John was building his first business (auto parts distributor Saturn Performance Systems) and his first website (spswebpage.com). With the help of Brian Lavelle (now the owner of belcommunications.net), John built one of the industry’s first ecommerce-enabled sites. He did this not because it was the trendy thing to do, but because it made sense. For a one-man operation, streamlining marketing, sales, and customer support through an inexpensive and dynamic medium like the website was critical for future growth.

Hence, as early as 1996, he had built an “interactive website” before the term itself had even been coined! “We had never heard of ‘interactive media’ before,” John later remarked. “We just knew that our website should be an integral part of caring for our customers."
